I grew up in Newark and Bloomfield, NJ. I attended Bloomfield High School, in Bloomfield, NJ, where I participated in Student Government and lettered in varsity football for four years. I attended Monmouth University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education (1999). I attended Kean University, graduating with a Master of Arts in Educational Administration (2003). I am currently attending Liberty University, attempting to obtain a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. I currently reside in Midland Park, NJ, with my wife Johnna. We have three children: Carter (10), Callie (8), and Cade (5).
I began teaching in 1999, with positions held in Roxbury and West Orange. I have worked as an administrator in the following districts, since October of 2003: New Providence, East Orange, Elmwood Park, and Lyndhurst. Positions that have been held include the following: Assistant Principal for Attendance and Discipline (HS), Assistant Principal for Athletics and Activities (HS), Director of Special Services (Pre-K-12), Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Special Services (Pre-K-12), and Superintendent of Schools (Pre-K-12).
I am a true believer in educating each child on an individual basis; trying my best to instill values, morals, and ethics into them throughout my tenure. Good teaching takes good practice, and as educators, it is our role to constantly explore new and specific techniques that are successful. All educators need to prioritize student needs, working from the ground up in developing children that are ready to face the challenges of the global society that we live in. Ensuring that children enter the college and career workforce with the right tools, one must really get to know them on a personal level. As I have physically gotten further and further away from the classroom, it is just as important for me to develop these same relationships with parents, staff, and members of the community.
